ABOUT
The Special Service Area (SSA) is an economic development tool that allows additional real estate property taxes to be levied to fund added services for a defined area. The services funded through the SSA #52 tax, which pertains to 51st Street, are in addition to services generally provided by the City of Chicago. These services benefit those properties that are located within the boundaries of the SSA. COMMISSIONERS Mayoral-appointed SSA Commissioners for each SSA district oversee and recommend the annual services, budget and Service Provider Agency to the City. The SSA #52 Commissioners and the community participate in a yearly planning session to determine the activities for the SSA funds. |
