PILLOWS TO PADS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INTERVIEW |
51st Street: Thank you for sitting down and chatting today.
Sheree Bogan: No problem. Thank you for having me. 51st: So how long have you been in business as a non-for-profit and working with 51st Street Business Assocation? SB: I have been a not for profit for 4 years now but have assisted many organizations. I have been a partner with many organizations who have worked with 51st Street for over 10 years. 51st: What challenges/ adversities have you faced as an entrepreneur? black entrepreneur? black women entrepreneur? SB: Overall, one of the main challenges I have faced, as a black woman and entrepreneur, has been getting funding. 51st: How do you continue when faced with that type of adversity? Only because of funding is crucial. SB: Just having the passion and desire to keep moving forward. 51st: What does Women's Month mean to you? SB: Women’s month means we get to celebrate and acknowledge the women who have done and continues to do great things. 51st: As a child, what did you see as your dream job? SB: Currently, I'm a Childcare Director for a Daycare. However, my dream job as a child was to be a Speech Pathologist for children. I'm still aiming towards that goal. I understand that it’s going to take some time, but showing patience and my desire to keep moving forward will get me to the end result. 51st: You're very determined with your goals and aspirations. What attributes do you contribute to your drive to success? SB: Just hard work and dedication. 51st: Any advice for little girls growing up or women wanting to start a business? SB: My advice for little girls or women who want to start a business, would be to stay focused and follow your dream. Nothing comes to a dreamer but a dream. Investigate what it is you want to do and offer services that no one else does. |
